Paul Higham has used computational technology in his art for over 40 years and remains a pioneer of computers in sculpture. Since the early 70's whilst studying at Goldsmiths College of Art in London, his endeavor has remained consistent as to propagate a new form of art based on self-organizing theories of artificial life. In the early 90's he developed 'DATA SCULPTURE' whilst International Research Fellow at the University of Minnesota.
Harvesting grains of data from digital streams mined in real time, Higham’s work reveals organicity, hysteresis & turbulence within our culture. His work can be seen in collections, museums and exhibitions around the world, shown in multiple modes as data sculpture & data sonification or in a real time evolving virtual mode as installations and projections. He has lectured and taught widely at Universities, International Conferences and Symposiums in the UK, USA, France and Germany. Scottish-born based in New York.
